Štramberk


Štramberk is called, "Moravian Bethlehem". The town and its surrounding are dominated by the castle ruins of Strallenberg with its cylindrical tower called, 'Trúba'. The collection of  Wallachian wooden folk cottages from the 18th and 19th centuries, the vast majority of which are in the urban reserve, are architecturally unique.  Štramberk is famous for its sweet confectionery gingerbread product, "Štramberk ears",  which have been baked for centuries and commemorate the legendary victory of Štramberk Christians over the Mongolian army on May 8th 1241, the Eve of Ascension.
