Lednice

Lednice, called 'the Pearl of Southern Moravia',  is a town with a rich and eventful history. The whole, vast Lednice-Valtice area, major components of which are the scenery and sights at Lednice, are listed as World Cultural Heritage sites and entered into the UNESCO list on December 7th, 1996. The castle surroundings were rebuilt into a large English park in the 19th century and are a perfect example of the sensitive use of natural landscape potential. The Lichtenstein family, from the local border castle, gradually rebuilt it into a Renaissance residence in the 16th century. A garden was created around it which has become the basis for today's larger park. Further information
