Helfštýn Castle*

The castle, in its present form, is an extensive fortress with six gates, a series of towers, buildings and fortified walls from the 18th century. Some parts of its architecture date back to the early 14th century. Stylistic diversity and the size of the area have been affected by frequent reconstructions and additions and also by a deliberate demolition in 1656. The castle has been presented as a historically significant tourist destination since the 19th century. It has became a cultural center in the region, best known for the international meetings of artistic blacksmiths',  Hefaiston, and its permanent exhibition.
